Biographical / Historical
George William Garner was born on May 1, 1859, in Pike County, Georgia. He graduated from Mercer University in 1886 and married Fanny Rebecca Cherry in Macon, on February 22, 1888. (Fanny graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon in 1884.) Garner served as a pastor at various Georgia churches in Thomson, Commerce, Greensboro, Griffin, Eatonton, Union Point, Cochran, and Warrenton. He also served as a pastor in Barnwell, South Carolina. Garner died on August 11, 1933 and was buried in West End Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.
