Biographical / Historical
Eleanor Fay Allen Cunningham worked as a circulation clerk at The Christian Index in Atlanta from October 1947 to July 1948, a few months after John J. Hurt became its editor. She attended Mercer University during the 1948-49 and 1949-50 school years and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville during the summer of 1948.
During her time at Mercer, Cunningham lived in Bartlett House and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She left Mercer in June 1950 and married another former Mercer student, Richard Graham Cunningham. He served in the Air Force from 1951-55, during which time the couple lived in Texas, New York State, and Germany. They returned to the United States in 1956 and moved to Miami. They divorced in 1965, and Cunningham and her son continued to live in Miami, where she worked as an executive secretary and administrative assistant.
