Abner H. Tippett Collection
Scope and Contents
The Tippett Papers are divided into six sections, which were removed from a notebook. All relate to Southern Baptist church organizations and activities. Materials are primarily related to Sunday School and Training Union in the late 1950s and early 1960s and include materials for teachers, lesson outlines, attendance contests, and information on enlargement campaigns.

Biographical / Historical
A native of Dooly County, Georgia, the Rev. Tippett lived in Macon from 1941 until his death in 1987, moving from Finleyson. Reverend Abner Hill Tippett was a graduate of Lanier High School in Macon; Samford College in Birmingham, Alabama; and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a pastor of several churches including First Baptist Church in Gordon, Trinity Baptist Church in Macon, and Oakland Baptist Church in Warner Robins. He was a former minister of education at Shurlington Baptist Church.
Rev. Tippett was dean of the Georgia Education Extension Services, Macon, for 10 years; the former manager of WFNE Christian radio station; and a member of the Macon Baptist Ministerial Association. He also was a sales representative for the United Family Life Insurance Co.
