Biographical / Historical
George P. Oslin was born in West Point, Georgia, on August 5, 1899, and graduated from Mercer University in 1920. He worked as a newspaper reporter in Macon, Georgia, and Newark, New Jersey. He attended the Pulitzer Post Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University and later on became the Public Relations Director for Western Union for 35 years. Oslin was an author, as well, and wrote numerous books, pamphlets and articles, including creating the “Singing Telegram” in 1933. He died in 1996.
