Biographical / Historical
William Fielding Ogburn (1886-1959) studied at Mercer University and Columbia University; he also received an honorary degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was one of the most prolific sociologists of his time, serving as the 19th President of the American Sociological Society in 1929. He taught sociology at Mercer University and economics, politics, and history at Princeton University.
