The William Jones Carswell Collection contains three boxes of sermon notes, two of which are filed in letter-sized folders and one of which is filed in the original envelopes; one box of published books, slides, and photographs; and a final box of research notes on 4ʺ × 6ʺ cards.

The Mary R. Wilder papers consist of four general topics: her correspondence, her writings, newspaper articles about her, and a file with materials on her family and personal accomplishments. The collection also includes a number of oversized artifacts. The archives received these items in multiple accessions and arranged them accordingly; therefore, one may find similar items across multiple accessions.

The John Claypool Papers were found in the Cecil Sherman Collection and separated. Box 1 contains clippings, articles, speeches, correspondence, and other various papers by Claypool; Box 2 contains mainly sermons and papers from Claypool’s years at Crescent Hill Baptist Church.

The collection contains mostly correspondence from the 1943-48 Summer Workshops at Mercer, including letters, budget and expense statements, handwritten notes, lists of attendees, receipts, and workshop summaries and descriptions of purpose.

The sermons are organized by the earliest year written on the sermon notes. The personal papers series includes mainly correspondence, as well as some schoolwork and newspaper clippings. Scope and Contents The Louie D. Newton Papers consists of the personal papers of Louie Devotie Newton with materials dated 1879-1986. There are 29 boxes in total. The papers include correspondence, clippings, printed material, photographs, ephemera, audio visial materials, and a scrapbook (1939) of clippings pertaining to the Baptist World Alliance.
